Pretty Neat, Pretty Receipts

I rarely like to suggest products to other people because something inevitably goes wrong, and I'd rather not take the blame.

But I must pass along a cool product that I found out about over a year ago, but they just released a new for-Mac version that shows a lot of promise. The product is NeatReceipts. It uses a thin, portable scanner that you feed your receipts in to. Specialized software picks up on the format of the receipt and keep track of your expenses. You can search for receipts by keywords and dollar amounts.

The PC version has been out for a long time and has lots of cool featues. The Mac version will take some time to catch up, with promises from NeatReceipts that a 2009 version 2.0 will bring the Mac version closer in line with its PC counterpart.

There are several features that I won't go in to, but the whole thing is pretty cool. Rebekah and I are hoping to use our "economic stimulus package payment" in May to buy a Mac. One of the things I hope to get soon after is one of these handy-dandy machines.
